Stopping for Drinks at Edison Brewing Co in Gahanna, Ohio
The team here at DayTrip Adventures does like to venture out to a new-to-us brewery every so often. Today, we are sharing a recent trip to the Edison Brewing Company in Gahanna, Ohio. This was a fun early evening outing--and it definitely will not be the last time we stop by Edison Brewing Co for a few drinks!
If you are visiting from the Blogging from A to Z Challenge--E is for Edison Brewing Company!
Clean, Industrial Style Fits Edison's Industrial Park Location
As we drove away from the popular Creekside section of Gahanna and the shops and restaurants toward the warehouse/industrial complex--we wondered for a minute if my address entry was off. When we arrived at the Edison Brewing Co and headed inside--it was the perfect location. Nestled away in its own quiet little spot amongst the warehouses on aptly named Science Blvd, with a perfect sunset view of the Columbus skyline, the Brewery makes great use of its clean, spacious, urban industrial space.
The Drink Menu
The drink menu is broken down into Edison brewed beers, Guest Taps, International Guest Taps, Cocktails and available Cans/Bottles and Wines. After a couple of samples, Chris chose the Thomas special brown ale from the Edison brews and I picked the Well's Banana Bread from the International guest list. I think I almost always settle on a fruit ale these days!
Round One
When I find something I like--I tend to stick with it. My second pour was also a Well's Banana Bread. Chris sampled a couple of other options--and switched to the Edison brewed Scottish Ale, AlvAnother. Personally--I think he liked saying the name with a bit of a Scottish accent! I could have switched to AlvAnother as well--it was really good too.
Round Two
The Food
We had dinner plans--so we were not planning to eat during our visit to Edison Brewing Co. While they do not have a permanent kitchen onsite--they have a rotating schedule of local food trucks. Ciao! Italian Eatery's truck was onsite while we were there and they were steadily busy with traffic from the brewery patrons.
The Outdoor Space
I love (love love love) the layout and location of Edison Brewing Company. The outdoor space is great--and watching the sun set behind the Columbus skyline with planes coming in and out of view from the airport is the perfect scenario for an already relaxing and comfortable atmosphere.
*A little note--They are finishing up a little construction project to create a fixed outdoor stage area for their live entertainment--so there is some construction fencing and such in some of my photos that will be gone soon.
If you Visit Edison Brewing Co
Check the Food Truck Calendar for Online Ordering. During busy weekends (especially as Ohio weather warms up) it would likely benefit you to check out the visiting food truck scheduled and order ahead when you are planning to visit the brewery.
Other Activities in the Area. The Edison Brewing Co. is not walkable to any area shops, restaurants or hotels--but, is a convenient 5-10 minute-or-so drive into Gahanna, Blacklick, Reynoldsburg or to the Easton Town Center or the Columbus John Glenn International Airport.
